A Common Place for Horse Barn/Farm People

Hey! I saw this in the Appy Lovers community and decided I'd join. Anyways.

Yesterday my friend and I cleaned out our tack room and I found a lovely (and undoubtedly expensive) pair of boots that were lying dusty and forlorn under the bench. I then proceeded to try them on, discover how comfy they were, and claim them as my own! Does anyone else occasionally 'inherit' stuff from their barn? I like cleaning and discovering unused boots, saddle pads, wraps, etc. that can become mine! I really love these new shoes. :)

Oooooh, I love that.
We had a boarder leave our barn and leave a huge trunk full of stuff, so I got a longe line from her. We also just get things "donated" all the time; seriously, they get left on the bench out front. I've gotten a pair of bell boots, a huuuuuge cotton sheet for my shire, a set of used black polos, SUPER nice full-seat breeches that are well over $100 new, and a nice pair of paddock boots for my mother, in addition to all the things the barn has kept-Eskadron hind boots, a Vespucci bridle, ear nets, you name it!

At the barn I worked at the last two summers, they had a bunch of people that left (for barn political reasons... you know how that goes) A LOT of stuff behind. Most of it was still there the following summer, so the owner's daughter's husband gave me some full length chaps and some winter paddock boots since they obviously were forgotten by their previous owners (and had layers of dust on them as well). It was like finding hidden treasure!

Another time, the owner gave me some old stirrup irons for my new saddle because the ones I had ordered hadn't arrived yet. She let me keep them as backups when I went to give them back. :)
